WATCH OUT FOR THE CORONAVIRUS FRAUDSTERS (!)

I promised I wouldn't join in the rush of law firms seeking to market on the back of the coronavirus outbreak - but this is intended to be a public service announcement.

The chaotic business interruption being experienced across the world (at present) appears to have emboldened the scumbag fraudsters (who always 'make life interesting' for business lawyers), and as a firm, www.EquitableLaw.com has seen a significant increase in a wide range of frauds.

Amongst those we've seen in recent weeks - is the renaissance of the 'long firm fraud' (which I thought 'went out when the Krays went to jail' = It contributed a significant part of their earnings).

Basically, a 'https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long_firm_fraud' involves a company being fraudulently formed, acquired and/or 'hijacked' by fraudsters - who seek to give it an appearance of being much more prestigious and substantial that it actually is.

A false set of accounts (in such circumstances) allows such fraudulent company to order goods from careless suppliers who rely upon filed information without thinking, and when those suppliers seek subsequent payment - the goods, the sale proceeds and the fraudsters are long gone.

Such fraud is greatly helped if the fraudster can associate the company being used with a prestigious accountancy/audit practice and a blue-chip firm of Solicitors.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present 'Solihull Stores Limited':- https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/10861003

PwC contacted me recently to ascertain 'what I knew'.

TO CLARIFY -WE HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THEM!

However, I'm not finding the fact that someone claims my firm has an association with PwC at all funny (Attempt at humour / No offence intended - Nor, I hope/trust taken?!)

With Best Regards
